Extremely cold air moves into the area and mostly hazardous water conditions. Saturday will have some chances of snow showers carrying over from Friday. Even with snow chances, there will be a mix of sun and clouds. Snow will not be accumulating. Sunday will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Both days will be very windy. Highs will only be in the teens and 20’s with overnight lows on Saturday in the negative and single digits and single digits and teens on Sunday Night. Wind chills will make temperatures feel well below zero. This is dangerous cold for people and animals. Frostbite and cold emergencies can happen quickly in these temperatures. The young, sick, and elderly can be overcome by cold, as well. Any loss of power/heat will become an urgent situation. Be safe and stay warm! Water conditions will be mainly hazardous with some areas cautious with winds to 40 knots and seas to 10 feet inshore and 20 feet offshore. Freezing spray and limited visibility will also be an issue. Winds and seas will settle for late Sunday Night/Monday Morning. Small Craft Advisories are a given, but Gale Watches have been posted and Gale Warnings are likely at some point this weekend, mainly Saturday/Saturday Night. Surf conditions will be cautious with gusty winds to 35+ knots and surf heights to 5 feet. Winds will mainly be out of the west, so surf will not pick up as much, but it will still be dangerous, coupled with extreme cold and wind chills. Beach conditions are guarded to cautious, as moderate beach erosion occurred in many areas with the last storm. Use caution in these areas, as beaches could be unstable and present with debris. Water temperatures are still in the 30’s and lower 40’s and likely to drop over the next few days. UV Index is Low to Moderate at 1-4/15.
High pressure will settled across the area on Thursday Night and then move to the East Friday. A low pressure area will move across Southern Canada and cause an Arctic Front to cross the area Friday Night. High pressure will build in over the weekend and peak on Sunday Night. Low pressure will affect the area early next week.
The week will start off with precipitation chances through Wednesday. Mainly rain and snow showers. Tuesday may be an accumulation event for Western and Northern parts of the state. Thursday and Friday look mostly dry right now. These three days will be the ones to watch for potential storm development. The extremely cold air will retreat back north. Highs will range from the 30’s to upper 40’s even low 50’s. Overnight lows will range from 20’s to 30’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be very mixed. Monday will be good to cautious, then cautious to hazardous for the rest of the week with some pockets of good conditions as well. Wednesday looks to be the worst day with hazardous conditions and winds to 35 knots.
