NJ Fishing & Boating Weather Outlook Weekend Edition: Mar 5-6, 2016

A slightly unsettled weekend, but overall not too bad with average temperatures and mixed water conditions. Saturday will have increasing clouds becoming cloudy into the night. This will bring chances of snow showers carrying over into Sunday Day. Accumulations should be less than an inch statewide. Sunday will start off cloudy becoming less cloudy and then mostly clear by overnight. Snow shower chances will decrease into the overnight. Despite, snow chances, the weather will not be all that bad this weekend. Highs will make it into the low to mid 40’s with overnight lows down into the 20’s and 30’s. Water conditions will be cautious during the day for inshore ocean waters and borderline for Saturday Night. Rivers and bays will have good conditions. Midshore to offshore waters will have cautious to hazardous conditions. Sunday will have good conditions, however with low visibility, for all locations except midshore to offshore waters will have borderline to cautious conditions. Winds on Saturday will gust to 20+ knots, but seas will still be elevated from the week with seas to 5 feet inshore and 10 feet midshore to offshore. Surf and beach conditions will be ok to cautious on Saturday and ok to good on Sunday. Winds will be gusty and surf higher on Saturday with 20 knot winds and wave heights 3-6 feet. Sunday will have calm winds and wave heights to 5 feet. Water temperatures are steady in the 40’s. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 1-4/15.

Low pressure will move further to the east of the area through Friday Evening. A brief return to high pressure is expected for Saturday. A clipper system will cross the Mid Atlantic States late Saturday into Sunday. High pressure will overspread the Mid Atlantic on Sunday and will anchor off the Southeast Coast through at least midweek. A cold front is forecast to drop southward through the region Thursday Night into Friday.

The upcoming week looks dry through Wednesday with rain chances moving in for Thursday and Friday. Highs will start off in the 50’s for Monday, moving into the 60’s and even possibly 70’s for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before dropping back into the 50’s for Friday. Overnight lows will only be in the 30’s to upper 40’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be mostly good with possibly some borderline or cautious conditions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
