Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak
Engaged couple from Louisiana, Nicholas Hollifield and Haylee Beggs, chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Winds were out of the east at 5 mph with blue skies and temperatures in the high 80’s.
Nicholas, an avid hunter and fisherman, was very impressed and inquisitive about the fishing technique we have here in South Florida.
Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. Due to our extreme drop off, if you venture off another ¼ of a mile you would be in 500 ft. of water compared to the west coast of Florida where you have to travel 30 miles to get to 40 ft. of water. We started off trolling the reefs with two plainers down and four surface baits. The couple took turns bringing in their fish, and Dave, our mate, appreciated all the knowledge and help that he got from Nicholas. The couple took pictures of each other with the fish that they caught. Their total catch for the trip was seven Kingfish, seven Barracudas and one Tuna. We fillet the Kingfish and Tuna for them to take back home for their meals.
The couple retired into the a/c salon with the TV on and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
