Bermuda High Pressure continues for the weekend with mostly cautious water conditions. Hot and humid air will continue, even peaking this weekend. Saturday and Sunday will have chances of showers and thunderstorms, some strong to severe. Temperatures will continue to soar in the 90’s with high humidity, making it feel like 105+. Saturday will be the peak, but temperatures will continue through early next week. Overnight lows in some areas may not drop out of the 80’s with upper 70’s for most locations and northern areas seeing low 70’s. Excessive Heat Warnings are in effect for all of NJ, as well as surrounding areas. Thunderstorms could bring heavy rains, dangerous lightning, and damaging winds as well. Water conditions will be good to cautious for rivers and bays and cautious for all ocean locations. Winds will gust to 20+ knots with seas to 6 feet. Sunday will be the better of the two days with the possibility of some slightly decreased winds and seas. Surf and beach conditions will be borderline with gusty winds and surf heights to 4 feet. Rip Current Risks will be Moderate to High. Water temperatures are steady in the 70’s and 80’s, except surf temperatures have dropped into the 60’s due to southerly upwellings. UV Index will be Very High at 8-9/15.
The summertime Bermuda high pattern will remain well established over the mid-Atlantic region for this weekend. This will maintain very hot and humid conditions over the area. A weak frontal system is forecast to slide south into the region early next week
providing only slight relief. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely develop each afternoon and evening.
The Atlantic Tropics are quiet.
Next week will have showers and thunderstorm chances all week, especially the first half. High temperatures continue to be in the upper 80’s and 90’s with high humidity through Tuesday before dropping into the low to mid 80’s by Wednesday and staying there for the rest of the week. Overnight lows will continue in the 60’s and 70’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be good except for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday could see borderline to cautious conditions.
Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
