Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Jacob Puleo and his friends from Fort Lauderdale chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  As the anglers boarded the boat, Captain Zsak and Captain Gambrill asked them what they were interesting in catching, and their response was eating and sport fish.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water south of the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore.  We started out with a trolling spread with four surface baits and two deep baits on plainers.  Within 45 minutes of trolling in 155' of water, the anglers caught three Bonitos on the plainer rods.  Thereafter, we got a surface bite – the rod bent over and stated peeling off drag – Sailfish on and tail-walking across the surface as the sun was gleaming down on his bright neon, silver colors – what a sight!!!!  Jacob, our angler, got the rod and started fighting the Sailfish and about 25 minutes later we caught a 6'6" Sailfish weighing approximately 50 lbs.   We celebrated the catch with high 5's, and after photos were taken, the Sailfish was released back into the ocean.

We put the lines back in the water and continued trolling.   I decided to stay in the same depth in 165' of water.  An hour later the rigger came down again and another 6 ½’ foot sailfish came jumping out of the water.  The anglers got super excited that they had a second Sailfish on, and this one is jumping more than the first one.  After a good 6+ jumps and a very excited angler, we got the Sailfish in the boat for pictures and major celebration.  Clean release and a happy Sailfish returns back to the ocean to fight again.

The last hour of the trip we decided to target Snappers and Sharks.  We put the lines down but no bites.  So we ended up catching 3 Bonitos and two Sailfish – a very successful trip.

The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock.
