Hit the water at 0700ish with my sister Jackie and buddy Paul. We were hoping to capitalize on the AM bite just south of my inlet. Got outside to find nice conditions and a highway of boats. I was buddy fishing with several others who started out down by Seaside so, when I got in the are of the first fleet I started to look. I knew I was in the right area because the Monger was there and catching as per usual. Last time out we marked tons of bait but, no fish. This time it was quite the opposite. We had great reading but, it seemed the only one catching had live bait. We decided to get away from the fleet a little bit and try to find some bunker. A little further south we found a small school of bunker with some marks mixed in. We snagged and dropped and snagged and live lined. We lost a nice fish boatside and had a couple bumps and run offs but, that was it.
When the tide slacked and the action stopped we hit the ACR to kill some time. We managed a handful of keeper sea bass, porgies, and a nice tog for our efforts. We tried again inside the line for stripers to right about dusk without a sniff even tho there were not plenty of bunker to be found.
It was little frustrating but, overall it was a good time.
