Boat Paperwork Question

I received the title and registration to my boat from the dealer in todays mail. Error on the axels/prop section says I/O when in fact it's an O/B. Hull ID matches. My question is : Should I have a title or some type of bill of sale for the outboard engine itself? Same for the trailer? All I've got on the trailer is a new registration, nothing on the outboard. What's the real deal on boat paperwork? <'(((><

separate bill of sale for the trailer as it is considered its own vehicle.  The engines should be included in the bill of sale with the boat.

I don't think the engine makes a difference, but if you want to change it, just go down to DMV or call the place you bought it and tell them they screwed up.

You are registering the hull, not the engine and they are not seperate.

My NJ title doesn't even have the i/o or o/b on it. And for the trailer all I have is a reg. from dmv and a certificate of origin from the dealer.

Yup, trailers only need registration, no title.
Boat title is for the hull, not the motor.  The type of motor probably should be changed though.  I would start with the dealer because MV may charge for the change.

   what Joe said...change the title Reg now n the boat to avoid problems later, it's no big deal to make the correctins at DMV

Thanks everyone. Will call the dealer on Monday to get it changed. My boat Reg. also says I/O. Don't want to be delayed explaining it to the authorities out on the water while they come aboard and check the Hull ID numbers. Don't want problems down the road when I sell it either. <'((((><
