Best Holiday Season Ever

BEST HOLIDAY SEASON EVER
Florida is widely known as the Fishing Capital of the World, and for good reason, the fishing is spectacular. In addition to outstanding fishing our Tropical Wonderland also offers some of the best wild boar hunting in the country. Wild boars were first introduced in the 1500's to what is now the Southeastern U.S. by Spanish Explorer, Hernando DeSoto. Escapes from enclosures resulted in the establishment of the 'wild' hog population. Today Florida's wild hog population exceeds 500,000+. Their keen sense of smell makes the wild hog a real challenge to hunt.
Let's start 'The Best Holiday Season Ever' with a Christmas party at Madeira Beach's Hubbard's Marina. My daughter, Dee Harbison, is joined by Captains Mark & Dylan Hubbard:

Time to hit the woods. Perry Florida's Two Guys & A Hog Outfitters is one of Florida's best:

Our guide, Francisco, is one of the best. Look at the rooting under that very active feeder:

Hunter's Fresh Earth & Natural Pine wafers work well in defeating the wild hog's 'keen sense of smell!' They are not messy, easy to use, and last for years:

Nice set up:

Saw some nice hogs, but no trophies. Time to relax in our very comfortable BUNKHOUSE & prepare for Thursday morning's hunt:

Early Thursday morning...check out all the hog rooting:

Get ready; here they come:

Our Marlin 1895 Stainless Guide Gun is ready, and so are we:

Our ammunition of choice is the no nonsense 405 gr Ultramax .45-70. Introduced in 1873, the .45-70 quickly became a favorite of hunters. .45-70 Gatling guns were used by  U.S. Navy warships from 1880-1890.
Ever since 1986 Ultramax has provided top of the line ammunition for serious hunters. Today Ultramax packages their Cowboy Action ammunition in historically authentic packaging:

Let's take 'The shot!'
Hog down!  Hog down & out!

What a way to celebrate birthday # 75:

Thanks to Two Guys &  A Hog's professional guides, Jeff and Francisco, and Hubbard's Marina, this is indeed 'The Best Holiday Season Ever!'

Even Santa came South for the Holidays:

slt Thanks!   What an honor sharing with our Northern friends. Can't help but wonder if it's a little colder there than here. The Sunshine state  is looking at 81 degrees for Christmas day. Not too much of a chance for a White Christmas!

Merry Christmas!! Thanks for all your reports. It is a little colder, but not much in the way of snow here in NJ.

The cold of Florida

Thanks!  The Florida Fisherman II, Madeira Beach, Florida, has 57 overnight trips scheduled for 2017. Hope to be on many of them. It would be a real honor to have NJ sportsmen/women join us. I will feature you in my report.
QUESTION:
What the heck is snow? New concept to me.
Getting much colder here also. An Arctic Blast just hit:

But we are ready for the cold of late December.
Best to one & all from the cold of Florida
