Another mixed week for weather and water. The entire week will have chances of showers and/or thunderstorms. Monday will have the greatest chances, right now, and also the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible all day, however the main event will take place in the evening to overnight hours. Heavy rains, dangerous lightning, damaging winds, hail, and even the possibility of a tornado will be possible. Tomorrow is definitely a day to be aware of changing weather conditions and have a way of receiving weather alerts. Tuesday through Friday will have much lower chances and any thunderstorms do not look to be severe. Highs will be in the 70’s and 80’s with lows in the 50’s to 70’s. Humidity will be moderate to high all week, especially before the midweek cold front, only to be replaced by another humid airmass. Water conditions will be mixed between borderline to cautious. Monday, Tuesday, and Friday will be the cautious days. Monday will have winds to 25 knots and seas to 7 feet. Tuesday and Friday will have lighter winds to 15 knots and seas to 6 feet. Surf and beach conditions will be borderline to cautious with cautious days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, as well. Rip Current Risks will be Moderate to High. Be careful in the surf and do not swim in unguarded waters. Also, follow all local beach information, as surf conditions can change quickly. Also, be aware of pop up or fast moving thunderstorms, while on open beaches with little to no shelter. Water temperatures are in the 60’s and 70’s with surf temperatures in the mid to upper 60’s now. UV Index will be Moderate to Extreme at 3-11/15.
High pressure over the western Atlantic will keep our region in a warm and muggy airmass. A cold front will approach from the west Monday, then move through the area Monday night. A secondary cold front passes through Tuesday night or Wednesday before weak high pressure builds in Wednesday night and Thursday. Bermuda high pressure looks to influence our weather once again late in the week. A cold front should slowly approach the area next weekend.
The Atlantic Tropics are active with Tropical Depression 3 and an area of invest. Neither will be too much of a threat, but both could move inland and come in the form of rain to the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic by the end of the week.
