Yesterday aboard the Down Deep we ran a 6 am open boat with another great bunch of new and returning guys. Fishing continues to be tough, but Frankie was HH with 3 and down from there. Seabass caught as well. The guys worked hard with little reward. Back at it all week. Been on the water more years than I care to admit ,this is the worst year ever `for fluke .Usually good end of May into June .Slow down in July ,with a pick up in August . It just never got started .

You know Stew many of us have been in the game many years. I will not sound the alarm yet. If we go back a few months ago when the Stripers just started to turn on in the bay, we had a torrential rainfall that seemed to steer the fish right out. They never really turned on again. Now Fluke, I beleve we are a month behind where we should be now. No great shakes anywhere. Water temp? Water quality? It's anyone's guess. I also believe that we up here have had an exceptional fishery enjoyed by many for quite some time now. So one year of off fishing is not the end, and acceptable. Most up here are spoiled. But it's way too early to call it yet. Take a look down south Jersey, Cape May etc. They have seen just a few fish every year for the last too many. I believe we are at a turning point right now, where fishing will improve, as long as the weather cooperates. Good luck everyone and catchem up
