Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak
Richie Wiener from Tamarac and Joe Costales from Long Island, NY chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep-sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After a few conversations on the phone with Joe discussing what type of fishing he would like to do and reading our reviews on TripAdvisor, Joe chose us for his charter boat fishing trip.
Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. I decided to troll off shore where we caught some Mahi Mahi’s the day before in 600 ft. of water. We had one plainer down with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips and a jap feather down the center. On our way out, we caught some Bonitos.
We kept trolling to the east and ran across some scattered weeds. As we kept working the weeds, we ran across some short Mahi Mahi’s. While trolling, Richie and Joe kept taking turns reeling in their Mahi Mahi’s. Joe was the angler on a good size Mahi Mahi, weighing in 25 lbs.
With four Bonitos and a total of 12 Mahi Mahi’s, it was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Alex, our mate, filet out the Mahi Mahi’s for the anglers to take home.
