Cold weather Hogfish chewing
Hogfish are often called Hog Snapper. In reality they are members of the Wrasse not snapper family. Hogfish are native to the Western Atlantic Ocean, living in a range from Nova Scotia, Canada, to northern South America, including the Gulf of Mexico. Hogfish, with its delicate moist flesh is considered by many to be the best eating fish ever to swim. Hoghish often feed on shrimp. Shrimp contain the good type of cholesterol. Hogfish has the ability to convert the cholesterol into pure fat that is stored as intramuscular fat. This contributes to the moisture and oil in the flesh resulting in a fantastic flavor. Hogfish fillets are white, flaky, as rich as scallops, and so tender that they are delicious no mater how they are prepared:
As we all know most foods that taste really good are terrible on your health. Hogfish is an exception. Hogfish is a rich source of healthy protein with 100 grams of fish providing 20.54 grams of protein. In addition, Hogfish also provides vital nutrients such as potassium, iron, calcium, vitamin A, and C. Most Hogfish are harvested by divers with spear guns. They can also be caught on hook and line.
