That's cool! ;D  Although, I've never seen anyone fillet a fish by bringing the knife towards you like that.  Kinda dangerous!

I agree, dangerous.

He was cutting 'with the grain' so to speak.  But he should have had to fish facing the opposite way.

Liked the "spinning handle drag"

Got a couple of them oldies in my collection.

I wonder how a running bluefish would do on that reel....keep your knuckles away from the handle :'(

I agree, those old videos are great.  Look at the equipment on his belt.  When was the last time you see anyone on the beach wearing a leather rod holder.

The knife looks like an old K Bar.  I love the beach buggie.  I wish some were still around today.

Conventional reel, leather drag,no anti reverse,probably a bamboo six sided rod. I think I saw that guy during the Fall Run on the beach.He still at it.
