Tica Caiman reels

I'm in the market for a new reel for a Crowder Shoreline SLC710.

I'm a big fan of the ABU-Garcia Ammbassadeur's for this size reel but the Tica Caiman CA200 looks prtty nice.

Anyone have an opinion on these reels?

My pops picked up A tica reel similar class to the one you are looking at. I do not recall themdoel #, but would be ideal for casting, chunking big blues and big bass.

Hasn't used it yet, but it seemed like a well constructed reel when I was checking it out.

I was looking at a Tica striper series reel, Its made for casting and cost around $140.  Looks nice and well made.  ;)

Sweet looking reel.  I guess if you are not looking for real long casts the level line function would be OK.  I prefer to not have one, but that is just me.

They seem nice. Actually, the one I'm looking at isn't on thier site. It must be discontinued.

I emailed the person who's selling ghem on his site to see if he actually has any or it's just old info.

If it's available,I'm going for it. If not I'm going to get an older Abu on Ebay...nice way to spend a $100.00 Amex gift card!!

Got my new Tica in the mail yesterday. Real nice well built reel. I like the black color too.

Can't wait to put it to work.

20lb Suffix mono for Striper season. Then I'll strip that off and put braid for Fluke.

Don't strip it all off.   You only need a short amount of braid for fluking.  Take off 50 yards or so of mono and you can replace that with 150 yards of braid.  Will cover about the same space on your reel as it is thinner diameter.

Then, when you go back to striper fishing, you have the mono to use to end the fall season.   t^

Yep, that's what I was planning on doing.

I'll also strip the braid off after the season and save it to put back on next year in reverse.
