AHHHH got my catalog today... I will be browsing through it tomorrow and highlighting things I need for this upcoming season.  Mboy, I will be buying a gallon of bottom paint, I only need to touch up, so there will be plenty for your boat if you want to stay away from the dealers service.

This is almost one of the best times of year.  Tax returns coming back the same time as preparing for the season.. Couldn't ask for anything more...

ACTUALLY...  I am wrong.. Friday's Mega wouldn't be that bad either..  ;)

Are the catalog prices better than the store?  I've always found West Marine to be pretty pricey.  I usually go to Pt. Pleasant Marine by the Rt. 35 bridge or Boater's World on Rt. 37 in Toms River.

Thanks Nick. Already paid them for this year :(

I only use WM as a last resort, they are VERY VERY pricey!

It is lots of fun to browse the catalog and walk the store... Doesn't cost a dime if you have willpower...

;)I use catalogs as a reference then do an on line search for the best prices. The shipping cost is usually less than the gas you will spend driving. And out of state purchases charge no tax. t^

Word just in. New CEO has new strategy for WM and is slashing prices to be more realistic as we speak. Rumor has it that he grew tired of complaints from the boating community that their prices were too high on everything.

This is what the street is saying. can be confirmed by going down to your local store. I don't have 1 close to home, only to boat (which is not close to home :(

no kidding.  I was looking in that catalog for hours today and didn't finish.. I noticed a tranducer for fish finders that scan through the hull of the boat so there is no need to mount it... Pretty cool.  Does anyone have one and if so, how does it work.

Its called a inside the hull transducer, It will not give you a temperature reading though. . If set up correctly they seem to work fine. You have to epoxy them to the bottom of the bilge and be sure all air bubbles are gone. They do not work on some thick hulls. Some info is on the hummingbird websight. I have the 917c unit and have read about it in the manual. you can download Manual's.. t^..  I have a full inboard so I grtn upgraded to a through hull transducer.
