Question about hi lo rigs for stripers..

I hear they are good for this time of year. now i have used the for bottom fishing and for fluke but I have always just used a simple fish finder rig for stripers..

Is the hi lo effective for stripers and how is it set up??

about 3 ft of leader  with 2 dropper loops and the weight on the bottom? Or 1 dropper using a fish finder typoe set up??

Yea thats all I ever used but I hear some guys like to use the hi lo rigs.. I'm always looking for new ways to catch fish.

I would stay away from the high, low.. I like the fishfinder rig.

scrub, only a few people make very good hi low rigs,(that ive come accross anyway).  most store bought rigs end up tangling themselves or just simply hooking the main line making them ineffective.  i always use fish finders (but then again im a pretty lazy surf fisherman).

I use fish finder rigs. Don't know much about using Hi Lows for Bassin. I have never heard of anybody using them except for bottom fishing.

I agree with everyone else - single hook for stripers.  Instead of a fish finder rig - I use a 3 foot 50# fluorocarbon leader, then tie in a light trolling weight (drail) then my line.  I use just enough weight to keep my bait (clams or bunker) just off the bottom when I drift it back.

Fishfinder rig (preferably black) with fluorocarbon is the only way to go. Simple and most effective for sure.
Use different weight on each rod and see which is holding better or getting the most action. 1oz can make all the difference in the world.

Hi Flukedood,

Stick with the fishfinder rig as everyone has pointed out.

Now if you are wreck fishing on anchor, that may be another story.
