Long Island Cod, Part III (late report)
« on: February 28, 2008, 08:11:46 PM »
On Sunday I hit the Captree Princess party boat for another shot at the local cod.  I had a keeper cod on each of the first two drops which were semi-close to home.  With the nice weather and decent crowd,  Capt. Rob then steamed 40+ miles to an offshore wreck in an attempt to make this trip memorable.  As soon as the boat settled and horn blew, the flurry of nice cod and ling that initially greeted anglers was shut down quickly by an invasion of the "endangered species".  We made a couple of shifts to get away, but the dogs were too fierce.  Anyhow, I can't complain about my day as the weather was gorgeous, I caught dinner, and the calendar still says February.  Hats off to Capt. Rob for making that attempt.  It just sucks that all that fuel and time spent traveling didn't pay off in the manner that we hoped for.

Awesome report.

I know Capt. Rob Andresen since he was a little kid and a mate on the Jib with Capt. Marty.

Although Rob is young, he is of the old school type of Captain.

He gives you a full days effort EVERY single trip.

There is no skimping on his boat.
