ok, I'll ask -- does line slippage happen with only "old" line?  Or can new line slip too?  I wasn't sure why you were bringing that up.

I brought up line slippage not as 1 of the reasons why on a spinning reel you should back with some mono. t^

Mono prevents it.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with old or ne line. ;D

Actually, this thread has gone wayyyy off topic.

The original question was about filling your spool with PP.

We are now debating over how long to use your braid.

I never claimed to be a pro ,I just fish alot and fish my gear hard there are nights when I cast at structure and I know it is rubbing against pilings or a bridge.I worked in a shop and hung around shops long enought to know that line should be changed ever year,If you fish around the reefs your line is taking a beating or if you live line the bridges ,the bait is swimming around everything.think about it ,you spend all this money to get out there the last thing you want to do is hook a big fish and worry about your line

Who has the best price on PP?

Frankeu,

I've been a Power Pro fan since 2000 and it's a good line.  But the new Sufix Braid is better.  It's smoother and casts better.  Right now you can go to Dick's Sporting Goods and get a 300 yard spool of Sufix for $29.99 with a $10 mail in rebate!  That's 300 yards of braid for $20!  Great Deal! ;D
