Question about kids surf tourney

I know we mentioned this before. Having a Surf tournement for the kids.. I was wondering if we were still going to do this?? I have never run a tournment before and would not know where to begin But I would be more than willing to take the bull by the horns on this if I could get pointed in the right direction. Anyone on here ever run a tournemnt??
I spend 90% of my time fishing, The rest I just waste..

Lets just say, ITS NOT EASY.  There is alot to do to organize.  I tried something as simple as organizing a work related fishing trip and that was even a pain in the ass.  My suggestion is to keep it very simple at first.  You have to organize the people, place, time, prizes, rules, restrictions, etc.  Seaside Had a huge one where every 15 minutes you would have to change positions on the beach to keep it fair.  Good luck and let me know if you need any help.  I am always willing to give a hand.

Hi All,

Yes this will happen.

I am trying to arrange a large corporate sponsor (Miller Lite) to help out. I have already scaled it back.

If it does not work with Miller Lite, some of my Wall Street friends, my family and me will kick in money for prizes.

I also want to have "honor system" fishing related contests.

I see:

1. Season long fluke
2. Striper
3. Bluefish
4. Crab and snapper for kids
5. Crab for adults

What I am wrestling with is that I do not want to kill fish just to kill fish. I am thinking about making this a "length" rather than weight contest. If two fish are close, I'll pay both people. Then only a ruler comes into play.

I am all for taking meat but i would rather have someone release a cow bass after measuring it than to bring it to a scale and not eaten.

My only request of people will be that they be registered members and be able to take a picture. They will be able to mail in the pictures as well. If they need a ruler, I will buy it for them ahead of time.

BTW, Rod and I will have a xmas party somewhere, probably in Ocean County.

SOund like something interesting?

Ed, You can cant me in to help organize events if you need help, I may be able to get prizes donated and can definatly help out in any way you may need help..Just tell me what you need..
