That article was written on March 12th. The powers to be changed the regs since that date and NJ is now in compliance.

4 fish Jan. 1 - Apr. 30
1 fish July 16 - Nov. 15
6 fish Nov. 16 - Dec. 31

Was that made official?  I wasn't sure if it had to be voted on(maybe it was voted already).

Either way --- I'm glad we can catch tog.  Last year I caught the fever. 

I love to eat tog but I don't do it for the meat.  Bait, drop, set the steel, bring it in(or lose it to the wreck), and release.  I'm ok with that.

Tony, it did not have to be voted on. It was proposed to the feds and accepted by them. Yes, it is official.

I can't keep track of this stuff.  Fluke was voted on but tog was no vote.  Is that because the tog proposal went to the feds?

Anyway -- I'm glad I can tog fish in '08.

It was because the feds said NJ was out of compliance with the regs to reduce the catch. Once NJ sent in their revised regs, they were accepted by the feds and now they are in place.

So let me get this right-- nothing physically changed, still same number of tog in the sea, we were non compliant but now we change the regs so we are compliant. How does this help the fish?

Regs HAVE changed. Tog fishing is now closed from May 1 and July 15. No closed season last year.
Size remained the same at 14".
Quantity has changed.

4 fish Jan. 1 - Apr. 30
0 fish May 1 to July 15
1 fish July 16 - Nov. 15
6 fish Nov. 16 - Dec. 31

2007 regs had no closed season.
4 fish Jan. 1 - May 31
1 fish June 1 - Nov. 14
8 fish Nov. 15 - Dec. 31
