I run out of Shark River. The schools of adult bunker do not come into the river but stay in the ocean. What would be a good net to throw on them in the ocean in 30+ feet of water.

I see the schools throw a net and they always give me the slip. The net does not sink fast enough to get them.

I have no problem throwing the net, just in getting the adult bunker into the net the open sea.

Tunaman, you mentioned a Percy net. Would this work for my situation?

I know they are not cheap but, if they work, they are well worth the price. What you save in buying bait will pay for the net in just a couple of throws.  TT^

i came across tons of bunker in the ocean last year, so close to the boat that I can see there eyes.. I threw my 12' net, and when I thought I couldn't miss, i did.. more then once.  The net just didn't go down quick enough, hell, barley at all with the current.  So, had to take out the snagger.

Same here Nick. Throwing the net meant nothing. Had to toss the snag hooks. That is fun in itself, but not as efficient as a net full of bait.  TT^

I couldn't even explain how close they were and right at the surface.  You can see there entire body, eyes, and literly inched from the boat.. thousands... and as the net was in the air, they scattered, as soon as the net sank, they schooled back on top of it before i can get it up...  I looked like a fool, when I thought it would be a no brainer... boy did I put my foot in my mouth.. uncle Luna made sure he laughed at me.
