Capt. Victor "Vic" Medina
« on: April 10, 2008, 09:28:10 PM »
In memory of.

I would like to talk about the first time I met Capt. Vic.

I met him through another fishing website.  He sent me a message one day and asked me, are you the same Luna Sea 3 I saw netting bunker in the AH harbor.  I said Yes.. He said I was in the boat next to you.  He told me that we are both expecting our first child around the same time, since i posted that my wife was expecting.

Needless to say, our kids our only 3 days apart.

I took him fishing one day, and he brought along Al Ristori.  We had a bunch of laughs and caught a ton of fish.  He said, Nick, here is my fishing box, help yourself, whats mine is yours...  He was always willing to give a hand and help anyone doing anything.  The funny part was, as much as he hated giving exact locations of his hot spots on the websites, he always called me and told me where they were.. and sure enough, he was always correct.  After our first fishing trip, he asked, what do I owe you.. I said nothing.. you brought the bait and it was a pleasure fishing with him and Al Ristori.  Everytime i talked to him, he always said, Nick, I owe you one..   I even gave his sister my shore home for a week with her friends.. and once again.. Nick.. I owe you...  I said, don't worry about it... Thats what friends are for.

We became friends right away.

When we weren't talking about fishing, we were talking about our kids and how big they are getting and how much we need to get them together to play.  He had some rough times at home, so the kids never got together.

I talked to him as recent as yesterday, and we were going to go out after this weekends party.

He couldn't wait for fathers day because he was going to take his son away for a couple of weeks on vacation.

I feel extremely terrible about this tradegy.  I am still in shock and thought this news was a joke at first.

Never take your life for granted.  God rest his soul and god, please help his family get through this... and please bless his very young child who now has to live his life without a father.

I am still waiting for a email claiming that this was a Joke, but it doesn't look like its going to happen.  At the moment I am sitting here with a huge knot in my stomach.  Vic was only 25...

Something like this hits close to home.. My prayers are with him and his family...

RIP Capt. Vic... A TRUE AND DEDICATED FISHERMAN.

Yep.
Someone on another site had made a suggestion aboutnaming a reefsite to remember him.

Add a tourney to honor him for all he contributed to fishing in our area.

Still sucks tho.
