here is the major problem I have with bait pens.  They are good kept in the water for a day or 2.  Last season I bought a really nice one.. loaded it up with peanut bunker... came back 5 days later and there was a TON of growth on it from the AH marina.. I couldn't even lift it out of the water.. What a waste...  It was mid summer, water was warm which will help cause the problem, but the water moves pretty good over there that should help prevent the problem...

I agree with Nick about bait pens and location. Baitfish like all fish have a range in parameters that keeps them happy so if the conditions are in there then give it a go. t^

I'd like to stash one out in the Bay but after last years episodes with crab traps it would likely be stolen or empty. bngh

We have one at my dock and it works pretty well...but we are in the river and the water is always moving....experienced some growth but not a lot.......also they fish won't last but 2-3 days

a guy i know has a similar setup, located behind his house on the oyster creek. depending on the time of year, he either keeps peanuts, or killies in it. never put both, of course. it really works well. i think that waterway has a pretty fast moving current, and that helps. i wouldnt try it in any of these stagnant lagoons

For the price it would be worth a try. If it does not work, what did you loose, a few bucks at the most. We waste more money on coffee and donuts in a week than that would cost to build.  TT^

- he either keeps peanuts, or killies in it. never put both,
due to those killies eating the peanut bunker.

I put the killies together with the peanut bunker in my live well a few years ago.. I couldn't believe the killies, that were half the size of the peanut bunker, where going nuts on them...  I was shocked..
