Anyone ever change an outboard prop with boat in water?

Ordered new SS prop today and will be using a Flo Torgue II hub.

Obviously, boat is in water and it is a bit chilly to stand knee deep in water at ramp to swap out props.

Anyone every try it with boat docked stern in and engine raised all the way up?

May give it a shot this Sat after fishing if I get the prop in time.

Shouldn't be too much of an ordeal. Just make sure you place something under the motor to catch anything that may fall, tools, nut, washer, prop, etc.

did it standing a little over knee deep at the slip with an incoming tide,everything went fine but dropped the washer that locks the hub nut,lucky able to run down the road and pick one up,seems every time you work over water someting goes in.

better off backing it up to a boat ramp and wade knee deep, so if you drop something, you can pick it up.... or.. Mike... borrow my trailer... just load it up, change prop, then drop it back in...  don't have to donate tools to the water if you don't have to..

Thanks, may go the trailer route. I would do the in water but the water is REALLY cold right now.

Mike, I did it in the past and was more concerned about dropping the tools ,washers,and locking nut than I was with the greese on shaft and locking washer cotter pin.The job turned out right and nothing was dropped. If you can, go the trailer route.Less BS.      Good Luck   AJ.

Since I don't fish freshwater, I don't own any.
I wouldn't spend the $$ on them just to change a prop out.

I will be across the street from your boat on saterday ,I can throw a pair of waders in my truck if you need to borrow them ,the water is in the upper 50's so it isnt that cold.It shouldnt take you more than a coule minutes to change it out .let me know if you want to borrow the chest waders,I am a size 11 foot
