Brigantine and Berkeley Island Park 5/8/08
« on: May 08, 2008, 08:51:49 PM »
Went out with a friend on Brigantine this morning.  The original plan was to launch his boat out of Tuckerton and fish Great Bay, but the small craft advisory quashed those plans.

We fished all over Brigantine starting on the jetty on the south end and moving north.  Unfortunately Pepe Le Pew had nothing on us today.  :-\  Never had a bite nor did we see any signs of life (baitfish, diving birds etc.) At one point I was even tossing clams! :P  But it was to no avail.  We saw about a half dozen other guys fishing bait in one of the holes there, but nobody had a bite.

In any case, we gave it a good try and it was great to get out with Jerry today and shoot the breeze.  I'm sure we'll get 'em next time. ;)

This evening I took my daughter over to Berkeley Island Park to see what was going on. A couple of guys had some tailor blues earlier in the day and I heard there were some weakfish caught as well.  My daughter and I managed to get a few casts in before the powerful call of the swings at the playground became too much for her and she could no longer resist. ;D

So no fish for me today.  But all in all it was still a great day to be out!  t^

you gave it a try, fishing ain't always catching,it's about relaxing.once a few years ago I was out on the Raritan canal at one of the locks on a beautiful day and older fellow, not that I'm no youngster, was sitting in a lawn chair fishing.I asked him,did you catch anything or you don't care, his response I don't care.

Good try Bob.  That park is a great find especially for the family.

It would be nice to have one of our picnics there as you can fish, play ball, pitch horse shoes, go swimming and have a good old fashion time.

I believe you can even put in for a permit to have beer if I am not mistaken.

BTW I feel your pain with old Mr Peppy La Pew there.  I am just south of a 50/50 catching rate so far this year.
