Today Capt. Mike, Capt. Johnny B and I had a terrific day! As we headed towards LEI we heard alot of chatter on the radio about the conditions at the Inlet and when we got there the chatter was right but Capt. Mike did an awesome job breaking through and getting us out to the fishing grounds.
Conditions at the wreck were not much better with wind blowing a steady 20+ knots and seas/current going another direction. needless to say with one anchor it was hard to land on the spot so for the first few hours we did drifts over the area pulling up some BIG Sea Bass! On one of the drifts I managed a nice size Tog!! It sucked to put it back in the Ocean but rules are rules
Once the wind and seas layed down we were able to drop the hook and we had a few nice hours on anchor pulling nice size Bass up the entire time. For once the keepers outnumbered throwbacks
But then again the seas picked up really big and the wind was blowing hard. The anchor line came off the bow and was at 9 O'Clock thanks to te wind but with fishing this good we could care less!!
Some pics, a 3 shot series going through the inlet and some pics of the bounty.
