Ardent Angler reports from Wed May 14th,15th,19th
« on: May 20, 2008, 09:02:56 AM »
Now how can you go Apple picking in the spring  grtn

Last Wed I had my 1st trip of 3 trips with Capt Chris Gatley ardent angler.

Wed report left Morgan marina at 4:45 am and Capt Chris Gatley ardent angler took us to GKH and boy did he have a tough time netting Bunker.Well I was a bit concerned at first.Always Need those Bunkies !

Capt Chris took us to a spot and he dropped the anchor.5 Bass were boated and numerous Bluefish.

Pics to follow from the May 14th trip.

Thurs May 15th Once again we left Morgan Marina at 4:45 am & Capt Chris took us to Great Kills and trying to net Bunker again was not good.Another Charter Capt who is a friend of mine netted extra Bunker for us because he was in the harbor earlier. After we got our Bunker Capt Chris took us for a ride.Once we got to the spot we started drifting live Bunker and a few of us hooked up.Capt Chris threw out a Flat lined live bunker and a Bass was all the bunker  within seconds. So we all took off our sinkers & started flat lining. The surface explosions were a sight to see.Capt Chris never looked at his watch & turned this trip into a Bass marathon.7 hrs more like 10 hrs.At the end of the trip we had another 5 Bass & once again numerous Bluefish.

Mon May 19th Birthday trip.

Hanging with the Big Boys 5/19

Boy am I happy that I invest in the best gear, extreme gear.  The day started out calm but the Small Craft Advisory with west winds at 20-25 knots and gusts to 35 knots kicked in and it became every man for themselves.  We knew it would be bumpy but This?  My die hard crew wearing Aquaskinz were champs.  My 23 foot  Black Plate Alloy Boat and Mercury Optimax handled the 4-6 foot seas that were stacked and packed - like no one's business.
Art,Tony,Richie,Joe joined me today for some fun in the sun (and waves, wind and spray too).  We started the day with 100 bunker and drifted to zero fish despite my friend Capt. Frank of Vitamin Sea Charters boating 8 bass on his first drift.  I immediately dropped the hook and it was Lights Out from then on!

Quote of the Day:  "I think it is time to leave, we need the windshield wiper eventhough we are anchored."

10 Keepers were boated.

Victory at Sea !
