Jason and I we 2 of a toal of a baker's dozen who hopped on the Misty Morn today. I was shocked at the low number of fares.
Fished no more than 15 minutes from the slip. 3 minutes into the first drift fluke were being brought over the rail. First drift was by far the most productive but there were fluke caught one each drift. Jason had 2 keepers by the end of the first drift. At least 2 people had 3 in the box by the end of the first drift. I caught my only 2 keepers of the day on the second drift while Jason added another 2. Most of my fluke on the first 2 drifts were just short of 18"s. I'm talking 1/4" or less.
Anyway the wind picked up in late morning and the drift & thus the bite tapered off but as I said fluke were caught I every drift.
We didn't added anymore keepers so we ended with 6 nice & fat openning day fluke on ice. We each had over 12 shorts.
There was a total of 47 keepers for the 13 fares. High hook had 7.
GULP swimming mullet didn't draw any attention. I did try bucktailing but only had 1 strike. Best bite came when you kept the rod still with no bounce. A charturese/white clouser minnow fly took about 40% of our fish, the rest coming on squid/spearuing with the exception of one I took on a squid pattern fly that I used a teaser.
