3 day report / bunker spotted
« on: May 26, 2008, 08:18:43 AM »
been to tired or lazy to post up for the weekend.

friday, 0530 start, we tried trolling up along ibsp for soem striped ones, tried everythign we got and nada,, marked plenty of stuff in teh water but no takers,, i belive water temp was down to low 50's.

saturday,0530 start, same thing as friday, to include a trip south of the inlet to harvey cedars, where we found bunker pretty heavy, but nothing chasing them.

sunday,0530 start, decided to opt out of the norm and head south 1st thing. marked tons of stuff in the water, but again no takers, trolled inclose and out far, damn near to ship bottom. decided to switch it up and hit the barnegat reef. got 1 short sea bass, and a few hits.

not the numbers we need yet. went on the look. trolled north in 60' of water to seaside nailing monster blues off bunker spoon and a stretch. decided to call it a day as it was hitting 1530. water was upto 58 and change.

on way back found bunker again, and i mean alot of bunker! about a 1mile slick of them a couple hundred yards wide. they where just south of the bathing beaches off ibsp. live lined a few, but no takers, nor did i see anything chasing them.

all in all a nice weekend, leaving me to wonder where the hell the bass are.

Nice report Greg. The water at Shark River was very dirty Sunday. Temp was mid to high 50s. Blues were no problem to catch, no bass and only one keeper fluke on Saturday, none Sunday (today).

wow.. did anyone catch on Friday.

Off of Seaside Heights, the water was flat and calm all Saturday and Sunday.  No boats in the area though.
