Left the dock in Keyport around 6:30 PM with a friend. The tide just started heading out. water temp around 58 to 61 deg... Nice clear day with low wind. Started Fluking right outside of Keyport with some good reports from the Baitshop. No action, just a couple of hits....
I head over to the little hole off of keansberg to fluke. Again, no action.
We saw some baitfish jumping nearby so we switched it up for jigs.
I was wishfull because of a few good Striper reports from this sight from yesterday.
The baitfish disappeared when I was ready.
I started trolling Stretch 25's by buoy 11A with no action, which never happens..
I noticed a fleet over by Staten Island anchored up for striper's. So I trolled over and hooked up with some monster blues up to 33".
My friend had a blast and we threw the fluke bait overboard to help the chumslick the other boaters started.. We got back to keyport around 9pm just as the sun left us.
I would of stayed out all night if I did not have to work tommorrow. I bet the Fleet out there is going to kill the Striper's tonight!
