And it was great! Went on my friend Rich's boat, and with us was Gary and Keith. Rich and Gary have fished for sharks before on other boats, but that was with other experienced fishermen for sharks. Keith and I were complete rookies with this, but we held it down. Left the Highlands at 4 and made our way to the grounds. Probably 45 minutes go by when we get a hugeee runoff. End up fighting him for 20 minutes(Not even getting him close to the boat) and he snapped the line. Believe he hit it with his tail.
Immediatley set back up right where we were, and after maybe 10 minutes we had another runoff, this shark was bigger. Fought it for 30 minutes when we got it close to the boat. Gaffe, harpoon, and the shotgun was ready(Not loaded yet) when the 300+ beast made a run and went under the boat. We didn't react quick enough, and she got caught up in the prop and the line snapped. To say we were pissed is an understatement.
Made a little move to the original grounds, and set back up again. After 45 minutes we have another runoff and we hook up. The thresher leapt out of the water immediatley and was an awesome sight to see. After a 20-30 minute fight, we managed to boat her. Wasn't as big as the first two, but it'll do for a rookie trip. Rich's first shark on his boat.
