6-13 report
« on: June 14, 2008, 05:33:53 PM »
After working all day on thursday to learn how to throw the 12' cast net, I left the dock around 1pm friday confident in my feeble throw. First throw and I ended up with close to 75 bunker. It took all three of us to pull the net in. Of caurse we only wanted about 30 so back over they went.
Started looking for more bunker ocean side south of the rocks. Chased pods around for a few hours with blue fish up to 13lbs killing us.
Finally decided to go towards asbury park were all the action was said to be.  I could not believe all the boats. Then we saw all the shore guys hauling in big bass. After a few drifts with livies my friend Darrin nails a close to 40lb. A couple more drifts and he gets a 26-27 lber....  It died down a bit so we headed down south further and I nailed another 26-27 lber on a head. After that it died. We had some more blues in all that and a bunch of run offs. We hit the sandy hook rips before calling it quits. Had some nice marks and guys looked like they were catching. Not us. It will be nice when this big group makes it to the hook so we can save some gas.....

I'm in saddle Brook with Darrin. The other goofy guy is from neptune...

BTW These were personnel bests for both of us.  I hope to nab a 30+ this spring.
