Hey guys, its been a while since I posted and I hope all is well. I've been heading out East a little bit lately for some fresh strawberries, tasty wine, and some fun Spring Fishing. Last week I went aboard the Zephyr from Riverhead. In short time (3 hr condensed half-day) I filled a tote with 2-6lb. blues, all taken on 10lb spinning tackle for a load of fun.
Today I went further. Its been a long time since I took a "mental health" day so I skipped work and headed to the beautiful North Fork of Long Island to enjoy a gorgeous day on the water. The Prime Time III in Orient has been beating up on the bass for the past 3 weeks and figured I'd give it a shot. Unfortunately, the bite slowed down for our trip but I can't complain as I still had a respectable day. In the end I managed 5 gator blues, a 29.5 inch keeper bass, and one 27 inch throwback that were all caught on a 10oz gold diamond jig. I also choked a very good fish close to the boat, but those are the breaks. I have to say that I'm glad that I brought the gold jigs. The remaining 15 fares fishing with standard jigs only managed 3 other keeper bass and a handful of blues.
For Orient Standards it was slow but also very summer like as the night bite out that way is still amazing and definitely the way to go.
