JOzwirk, Andy and Lou arrived at my house this morning in the rain. Questioned me if we were going to go. I told them we should at least take the ride down and see what it looked like. That we did.
At the dock we were greated by good visibility, minimal wind and no rain. The sky was overcast, at best. Off we went.
We broke the inlet and immediately were into bunker. Snagged several to send out and continued to snag some more for later use. Live lined bunker with no weight and with weight. Had top, middle and the bottom water column covered. Nothing at all.
Continued with the bunker dunkin for an hour and a half to two hours. No one home. Bunker was lined up from Shark River inlet to Asbury Park. Could see some decent fish crashing the bunker on top, but no takers for our bait.
Made our way north to Long Branch and tried for fluke and seabass on some rocky grounds. The drift was poor as there was no wind to push the boat.
Many skates and smooth dogs today. The afternoon bite turn on some and we caught a good deal of short fluke along with three keepers, biggest went to Andy at 22".
Also caught four keeper seabass.
Will be out again tomorrow.
