TNT R Bay Flat Fishin.... 7--4 / 7-5 2008
« on: July 05, 2008, 10:05:57 PM »
July 4th

Left dock 6am and went to Keyport and netted peanuts; mixed sizes from 2" to 6".

We fished the Reach Channel and it filled up quickly with boats. Rained lightly for an hour ("looks like a nice day" - thank you Orlando). Mike fished the nutz and Orlando and I bucktailed.

We finished with 21 keepers with the biggest just over 5#.

July 5th

Met my Bow Monkey Mike, at the launching pad today around 7ish,,,,, went back to the grounds where everyone has been the last week or 2.....

My buddy remembered his weapons today and performed well for the on lookers..... we both had out limits again but today ya had to work thru the ones that were just missing.....Again power drifitng was the ticket and we didn't get yelled at once

There is an Un-Godly amount of fish in the reach channels at this time... warm water and plenty of bait are holding the fish there nicely.....

No need to crowd and play bumper boats guys as you can fish the SP buoy all the way back to at least the 20 rock, porgy rock , and catch them up as long as you keep da boat moving.....

Mike thanx for the company again.....

Awesome catch once again guys! t^

As far as "power drifting", I think everyone understands the concept.  But I think it is a bit more difficult to do it correctly.  Perhaps when you get some time you can explain more on how you use this technique.

Some questions I would have are:

Do you use a trolling motor?

What do you think is the optimum speed for power drifting?

Are you mostly doing this with the wind?  Against the wind?

Is bucktailing the preferred method to use when power drifting?

I'm sure others may also have questions (or answers) about this technique as well.  Please share with us whatever you can.   TT^

Thanks,
Bob

Some questions I would have are:

Do you use a trolling motor?

No but I have seen some use one...
What do you think is the optimum speed for power drifting?

there is no optimum speed as its drifting not trolling...ya just want to bump the boat in and out of gear while controlling your direction
Are you mostly doing this with the wind?  Against the wind?

Mostly done when there is no wind, which is why you bump the boat along.... but i haveleft the boat in gear against a strong wind or current
Is bucktailing the preferred method to use when power drifting?

Not really.... bait or BT's.....
