Left on the JP II out of Seawar en at 7 this morning with 5 regulars, the mate and Capt John K.
Fished the incoming at the bend of the Reach coming out of PA....nice drift cross channel...picked up one keeper and a number of shorts...left after 45 minutes to the 14 buoy of the reach, where we fished most of the day.
Tough drifting conditions with wind against, but Capt John worked the engines to compensate. Jigs tipped with spearing, fresh bluefish strips and squid seemed to be the ticket today. No hits on gulp teasers for me.
Personal season high with 5 keepers up to 4 lbs, all on a white 1 1/2 oz jig. High Hook and won the small pool today....better than a sharp stick in the eye!
12 keepers for the boat.....ratio of keepers to shorts improving....must have been at least 70 fluke caught today.....shame to turn those 17 3/4 fish loose.
Fishing was good during the incoming to the top of the tide and early part of the slack...bite shut down when the wind picked up at the outgoing.
Most of the fleet was there today, including the Sea Hawk, AH 1/2 and 3/4 day guys....Only the sandman and a tanker came through the channel today and that was around 2 PM.....nice when they don't come through to stir the channel up.
Back at the dock at 3:15....nice day on the water.
