No Power
« on: July 27, 2008, 05:29:10 PM »
Finnally got to take the boat out 1983 cc aquasport 140 Johnson.Ran the motor a half dozen time in my driveway no problem ran nice could get high rpm.I filled the tank and drop it in the water could not get the motor to stay running with a long line of up tight boater trying to use the ramp, finally got it to stay running putted out of the no wake zone drop the hammer nothing could get above 1200rpm so we turned around waited for the ramp to clear pulled her out very disappointed what a waste of time and money. When i filled the tank could I have had that much water in my tank that could have caused this problem?I took my water separator filter off look like all water.Besides draining the tank is there anything else I can do ? or do Guys think it could be something else?

Hi newf...  been there done that...   My problem was i left fuel in the carbs to long and it ate away at some seals..  sounds like just a water problem.. maybe drop the bowls and make sure the floats arent sticking..

you can always rebuild the carbs.  pretty east to do with  a manual

What is the capacity of your tank? How much fuel is in it now? If not too much, you may be able to 'dilute' the water contents enough with fresh fuel and water absorber to get rid of your problem.

How old is the gas? Did you have stabilizer in it? Do you have a fuel separater? Might want to change the filter, make sure it is 10 micron................ TT^

Gas fresh this year ran it out last year before we pulled her out dumped stabilizer in just in case anyway last year, Water separator is a racor but does not have the filter where you can see the separation of water and gas. That the way I bought it can I put a filter on with the see threw bottom on the preexisting separator?

Sounds like you might have stirred the bottom of the tank up after filling.  5hrug
