evening fluking Raritan Bay 7/15
« on: July 16, 2008, 05:44:42 PM »
my son and myself were invited yesterday afternoon to go with  friend Ken and his wife Hon on there Boat "The Breeze" for an evening of fluking,we stopped at bait shop Sayreville, picked up a pack of smelts,1/2 pint of killies and a trolling squid.met Ken at his house,at ramp and launching at 4:30,didn't check tide table, but appeared to be tail end of the incoming.fishing 49 can in the Reach by 5,action on the first drift, everyone hooked up,continued in that area making the same drift,we picked up 4 keepers, the biggest just over 22 inches, moved to area 19 can in the Reach, picked away but only managed 2 more keepers,6 keepers but only 5 in the box,Ken went to toss one in the box,but missed, glanced off and overboard.fished to almost 8:30 and headed in,beautiful night on the water, back home by 10.forgot my camera, but my son took a picture of me with the one over 22 inches with his cell phone camera, when he downloads and I get it I'll post it.    Kez

Nice report Kez. You got some nice meat there.

It's nice to not be captain for a day. Just sit back and relax and let someone else do all the captaining.  t^

Can't wait till my next trip doing just that.  ;D

Ken went to toss one in the box,but missed, glanced off and overboard....

Boy I hate when that happens. Once or twice went to clean one last year and didn't realize it was still alive and same thing happened, jumped and went overboard.

Nice trip and report.
