« on: July 20, 2008, 01:13:47 PM »
tried some shallow water inside the inlet with no result, moved outside the inlet to the shallow area just outside and south of inlet to find plenty of nothing with a surface temp of 64.7, and roughness. on the way back in i checked the surface temp as i was going past the lighthouse,, it was 59 and change on an incomin

back inside tried some shallows on the south side of the bay, 4-7' depths for a big notta.

My brother, who lives on the bay has been to the light a few times and its been pretty poor...south winds have kept the water cold....I guess that's the issue....will get better....best to fish the outgoing than the incoming.

I have to agree.  The outgoing has been the key to catching off the beaches for me.  I have tried the incoming and have got skunked over and over this year.  Not only that but I have found that if I down size the lures and baits I have been doing better as well.

I know the bigger the bait the bigger the fish but when the biggies are not around why target them when the shorties and many just legals are willing to bite.

Happy Catching

Thanks for the report!  Conditions have been less than favorable, lately.  I guess it only has to get better.  Ocean Temps have been very odd this year.  On the NOAA Ocean Temps website, AC is down to middle 50's again.

Good Luck!

Good try Greg. The water temp went down 12 degrees from yesterday. Yesterday it was 72 at Shark River. Today it was 60. Turned the fish right off.  :P
