Had the Tom Hill charter aboard, consisting of Tom, his 2 sons TJ and Justin, and his brother in law John.
First ran north, hit a couple of lumps in 50-60' of water - nothing but skates in dirty, brown water, and a hard north current. Decided to shoot back south, hit another lump straight out from the inlet 4 miles, again more skates...
Continued south, fished one of the snags we caught some fish at on Wednesday, and got a good pick going. Hard N current, little wind, lines went right to the stern. Even with a real slider of a drift, we started picking away at mixed size fluke to 20", some real nice seabass, and more good sized ling.. Fished that one spot hard for about 3 hours, pulled a good amount of fish out of it, then ran off about a half of a mile to another snag, and set up a drift just to the West. Again had good action on long drifts, with all the lines going to the stern, and 8 oz. of lead needed to hold even though we had a very light NE breeze. More nice fluke, more seabass.
Tom bucktailed all day, the other guys mostly dragged bait but TJ put a nice 20" keeper in the boat on a bucktail and one of the new custom outfits on the boat .
Tom bagged a nice 4#er, and his best ever fluke at 7.5#. We wound up with 14 keepers in the box, a few 3-4#, the rest were 18-20", 8 nice seabass to 3.5#, and 4 good sized ling. Everybody caught plenty of fish, good meat trip, with a great crew!
