Hooked up with T-Bone out of Keyport this morning to beautiful conditions. Around 8:50 searched for nutz a bit before fueling up only to see nada. Water was extremely high. At the fuel dock saw what could have been small bunk or snaps about 3ft below the surface on the move. Threw the net a couple of times but she couldn't get down quick enough in the deeper water. 20 gallons later and we're on our way to fish the western reach at some of T-Bone's fav spots. Change of tide had us sliding very nicely through the center of the channel. We connected immediately with 7-8 short fluke on very nice drifts. About an 2 hours into it, we only managed to put one in the box. Very few boats on the water today
. Deep water still giving up fish but the quantity of keeps has taken a drastic nosedive in the past week or so. Around noon, made what turned out to be an excellent move to the Ambrose. Again deeper has been better. We had ~ 2.5 hours of nonstop action in almost ideal conditions before slack tide arrived. Bait of choice seemed to be Gulp 4" Minnow in Chartreuse topped with a live or dead
Killie. Limited takers on the squid but convinced it is the ultimate in attention getting while hung off the back end of Mr Spro. T-bone worked his magic on Killies, mombo sized spearing, colored spro I've got to add to the inventory.
Lost count of total fish but had to be in excess of 25 (conservative). Total keeps for the day 8 with two fish pushing the 4-4.5 lb range. Pleasure fishing in outstanding weather, and great company with the T-bone. Lots of yuks as usual. A couple of pics for the day.
