We should ahve stayed home! Right before we left Friday afternoon, the weather forcast changed a bit. IT was pushing the limtis of our small 28ft and crew. But sicne we were loaded up we figured it was going to be that bad.
Well it was, the wind was supposed to be 10-15 ot of the W. Well, by time we hooked up to a pot, we had winds almost 20 with gust pushing 30. Sea were 4-5 with some that had to be 6-8.
Read a bunch of reports on "tons" of squid at night...we saw zero. We chunked and had a small hook up, but had tackle failure. Then nothing.
The next morning we heard from the boat that was a mile down our chunk line...boated 2 yellows.
Trolling Saturday went the same way. Trolled the edge and flats of Toms...nothing. Had 7 rods in the water.
On trip back into Barnagat, hit the Fingers for some blue fin...or anything that would bite. Again nothing.
Moved in and tried to South Ridge for Bonita that was reported. A couple boats around, only one boat claiming he had boated a bunch, but never once saw him pull anything in.
Better luck for the rest of ya.
