Had a charter Thursday with some repeat customers who have been on board each year since I started. Great guys who fish hard and are a blast to have on board.
I started the morning telling them how the blues have been riding my tail for the last 10days and that I expected to have the toothy critters raise hell with our offerings again on this trip.
They were around but nothing like the constant harassment of the recent past. Actually they were far and few between which allowed us to get to the bass un-molested.
We started the day 3-waying some porgy and nailed a couple very nice fish in 35-50ft of water on some Niantic area rockpiles. That bite seemed to die as the sun crept higher. So it was off to do some tubing in NY waters. We hit spots from the Sluice to Orient finding fish just aboout everywhere from 12 to 30ft. One small reef we caught at the slack provided a very steady "all bass bite" for about 1.5 hours till the tide started cranking again.
It's a lot of fun when I get the same people back year after year. One of the nice byproducts of chartering is making new fishing friends and being able to share some good stories & do some familiar B-busting...
Here's a few pics....
