Day tripping on the Hudson 8/16, SH Fluke 8/17
« on: August 18, 2008, 11:05:22 AM »
A couple of Christine's friends from an old job joined us on Saturday for a leisurely trip up the Hudson almost to the GW bridge. Fantastic weather and very interesting sights on both sides.

Sunday back to Fluking. Early trip with Christine, Cooch, and Tombo. Drifted the Reach, Flynn's, and SH channels as well as the Nudie beach area, and picked at flatties, boxing a NY keeper in 60' on a squid only rig. Lotsa shorts, and the usual assortment of $hitfish as well as 2 just short cbass on a sticky patch of bottom. Killies, squid, and robbin strips all produced. Another stellar day weather wise; wind with tide proved to be too much in the early afternoon; back at the dock around 2.  t^

Nice job... ome of these days I've got to do a Hudson day trip myself... I'll have to pull myself away from that other Hudson first!

That is a great trip.. I run the boat up there for the dealer to pick up in Ft. Lee when we need work..Awesome views.. Can get a bit bouncy in the Harbor with all the tour boats and water taxi's running around, but always fun. Nice Report.. Thanks!  chrz

Great trip up the Hudson. Nice sites. I haven't gone far up the river but the area I have done is great. Don't matter how many times you see the Statue of Liberty, it is bone chilling the first time you come under the Varasanno and see Lady Libery peeking at you.

Nice report Warren.  t^

Nice catch!

That must be something to see from the water like that!  I thought the views were great from the Ferry from Liberty State Park to the Statue of Liberty.  I also thought the views were great from land!!
