Panther Lake, NJ
« on: August 06, 2008, 11:42:16 AM »
Camping there this weekend with some friends.  The campground has fishing areas and rental boats, too.  So, I'm wondering if any of y'all have fished there and what your impressions/advice are.  Also, if you know the area any tips and hints would be greatly appreciated!

I have never fished Panther Lake.  I think it might be private access only??  My in laws stayed there last summer in a popup trailer.  They had nothing bad to say about the campground and really enjoyed their vacation there!  If the lake is private...fishing should probably be pretty good.  Fished a campground lake around 4th of July this year in Cape May and killed the bass, both largemouth and smallmouth on watermelon seed 6" worms texas rigged and powerbait purple/pink worms also texas rigged.

Sorry I can't help with any fishing tips for the specific lake.  Enjoy your vacation and have fun fishing!!

I fished Panther Lake a few times. Just another bass lake in NJ. You can get some nice fish and some nice spots.

A few miles up the road is a good place to fish.
Hope this helps

Hi Ash I hope your trip is a good one.  BTW I cleaned out the expedition the other day and found your sand spike so if you are looking for it I have it.  It will be a good excuse to come down and go fishing once again... chrz

So, I didn't catch the big one, but had a lot of fun nonetheless.

I also learned that when fishing with a 7 yo, it's best to assume that the teacher won't be doing any fishing it all.  His Dad was a beginner, too.  So, between working out tangles, baiting hooks and unhooking fish, I might have had time for about 15 mins worth of fishing for myself.

All we caught were little sunnies, but that's okay.  The game plan was to get the little man introduced to the sport and see if he could catch his first fish.  Mission accomplished!

Truth be told, he was sooooo excited about that eeeny-weeeny sunny, it didn't really matter that I didn't get to fish much at all. :)

Way to go Ash! Getting the young uns involved is great. Does the heart wonders watching them when they bring in their very first catch. Good job.  t^

Yeah...when the kids are fishing it's a good day to leave your pole at home!!  Especially when dad is a beginner too!

Glad to hear you had a good time and the little guy caught some fish to make him happy!  It is really great seeing kids catch fish.

Sounds like you had a good vacation!
