Pops Soul 8-17
« on: August 18, 2008, 01:07:39 PM »
Drew and I had a couple from work out sunday Tom and Jenette, they only get to fish on party boats once or twice a year, so this was their first first time fishing from a private boat. We left the dock around 10 am and headed north out of the inlet where we met of with the Irish Ayes. Once on the fishing grounds Both boats were into keeper fluke. with a very nice drift out of the North West that died but then returned only to die a couple drifts later. The couple was excited to be catching fish and keepers. We ended the day with only 4 keeper Fluke and 3 keeper Sea Bass. A little note for you guys that still might be gun shy about useing big bait, while Drew was cleaning the fish he pulled a 7 inch whole ling out of the stomach of a 18 inch fluke. When Drew and I left the marina we headed to the back of shark river to net some fresh bait, plenty of bait in the water Nice Spearing, Peanuts, and Mullet FYI t^

Nice report Skip  t^ I agree about the big baits..It's amazing how big a bait even the little fluke will try to eat.. Had one about 10" try to eat big Peruvian a couple weeks ago..lucky it was stuck on the hook or he may have choked to death on it  chrz

Thanks for the report Skip, I wonder when the mullet are going to start their run earlier this year.  Being the water has been cold for such a long time and  only now is it starting to heat up if we will get an early and longer fall run.  Could be interesting.

Nice report Skip. Good seeing you on the water. Great job in getting the private boat newbees on the fish.  t^

Gotta get to the back of the river and get me some fresh bait. Getting tired of over paying for it.
