Wed Aug 20th report
« on: August 21, 2008, 07:41:17 AM »

Nice sunny day with light winds and good conditions. On WB's and Catfish Hunters advice I made the trip from Keyport to the Ambrose channel buoy 3 off of Sandy Hook because the raritan Bay did not produce much on Tuesday. The whole charter fleet was out there drifting. I arrived as the high tide was just starting to change. Using 3 poles and a combination of squid, Killie's, spearing and sea robbin strips I had constant hookups, sometimes all three poles at once. The catch included 2 Sand sharks, Around 30 Sea Robbins, and around 25 short Fluke.  I did very well on the Sea Robbin strips.. Then the outgoing tide was running too strong, around 2.5 mph. I don't like using all THAT WEIGHT to stay on the bottom. Left the area for home around 3pm. Nice day  ;)

That excessive need for lead and the entire ny/nj fleet is what keeps me out of the ambrose. Especially with the season shortened.
