weakfishing
« on: August 28, 2008, 10:45:35 AM »
hey guys,  This is my first year with the boat and did quite well this year with the fluke and bass and blues in raritan bay.  i have never fished for weakfish before and was wondering if anyone had any advice what the procedure is to fish for them.  do you fish for them like fluke?  drifting? Bait?

Without burning any spots any suggestions for areas in raritan bay when they come in?  Thanks in advance guys this site has been great!!

It is drifting like for Fluke  Sand worms, peanut bunkers are the main stay, also jiggng with pink Fin-S-Fish etc.

Raritan Reach, Shrewsbury/Navesink Rivers, Chapel Hill channel....all produce "WHEN" they start the run.

So far a few fish have been picked here or there

whs  when they start running, I drift the Reach channels, with a hi/low weakfish rig, with worms, peanut bunker, etc.  Don't hook them like you do other fish.  They call them weakfish because they have a very weak jaw and you will tear the hook right out of the fishes mouth if you jerk to hard.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

I would bounce a worm with 1 rod and dead
stick a jig with the other. There were many
days when the dead stick would get more fish.
You don't need much action on it at all.
