Just got back. Had 2 full days scheduled that turned into 1 1/2 when nasty weather moved in on Wed.
The quick of it - trolling flat out sucked. Most of the billfish bite was 80+ miles to the north and with the local weeklong tourney itwas a madhouse up north.
Managed to put chickens in the box and a few kings, but for the most part it was a slow go. Lack of an east wind over the last few weeks made it hard to find any weedlines or debris at all. We couldnt raise a bill in the spread on either day.
Decided to deepdrop to put meat in the box on day 2. Ridiculous fishing. 6 man limit (30) of gray tiles in an hour and a half. Rough bottom held some nice c-bass to 5 lbs and a pair of monkfish.
Nice being in the gulf stream just over an hour from the dock. Tons of life with flying fish, turtles and porpoise everywhere.
Hatteras is nuts to navigate as the shoals move significantly on a daily basis!
Surf fishing was S.O.S. Croakers, snappers, 10-12" flounder, dogs. Enough to keep the kids happy though.
7 days in a house with 8 kids under the age of 10! I'm hitting the bunk hard tonight!!!
Massive marlin hit the scales at the Pirates Cove tourney on Friday. 1200+ Caught a quick glimpse as we drove by, place was packed so we headed home instead of stopping.
