Hydraulic Steering Issue
« on: September 01, 2008, 06:30:35 PM »
I feel a little skip in my hydraulic steering when turning towards Port Side.  She also seems a little tougher in that direction. then the other..

Anyone ever have this?

Rod

Did you bleed the stering? Might be air in the lines.

There was a discussion on just this topic a week or two ago. I believe Luna Sea started the topic. There are directions on how to bleed the hydrolic system.

The fluid does not just disappear on it's own.Usually there is a leak somewhere causing fluid to leak and air to enter.

the reason why its a 2 man job is because one has to turn the wheel, while the other is bleeding the lines..

Don't forget the fill hose kit.
Teleflex Part# HA5438.

or make one of your own with a 1/4 male npt to hose nipple fitting and a cone shaped capped bottle to hold the steering fluid. I used a Lubrimatic lower unit oil bottle that I emptyied out, it came with a black cone cap.  t^
